Dr. Elena BADEA was awarded PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Galati in 2001. She was
appointed as Assistant (1994) and then Lecturer in Biochemistry (2000) at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences,
University of Craiova. Since 2002 she joined the Department of Chemistry, University of Turin as Scientist under contract.
In the last 10 years, she has been involved in more than 15 research projects, predominantly linked to chemical thermodynamics and
cultural heritage, mostly as senior scientist, principal investigator or director.
Research interests span multi-disciplinary research focusing on the development of new methods and scientific tools of study of heritage materials, collections and their interactions with the environment. She has been involved in EU projects (IDAP, Improved Damage Assessment of Parchments, 2002-2005; EViTherM, European Virtual Institute for Thermal Metrology, 2003-2006) and other large collaborative projects (OPERA, Old Parchment Evaluation, Analysis and Restoration, 2006-2010 and MuSA-System, Multispectral Analysis of Parchments, 2012-2013). She co-coordinated the International Seminar and Workshop "Conservation and Restoration of Parchments", Turin, Italy, 5-8 September 2008 and co-chaired the Scientific Committee of the 1st and 2nd International Conference "Matter and Materials in/for Heritage Conservation", Craiova, Romania, 2009 and 2011.
